Lamps:

Building lamps got to be a big thing, and lamps are probably the objects I build the most.

I don’t know why exactly lamps, but it happened, that I build a lot of them, the first ones I made with about seven years  to funktion in my ``hut´´. These lamps were just powered by batteries and tiny solar panels. I also created some indoor lamps with batteries and LEDs, but I got tired of that pretty fast, and that’s why I started building all sorts of different lamps powered with 230v, although they didn’t fit together very well because of their different designs, I hang them all up on the wall in my room. When I was 13 year old, I decided to renovate my room a little bit and in order to paint the walls, I had to puty around seventy holes in my walls, created by all the lamps which were there. Because my room now being freshly painted, I decided to go with a more matching look and build some lamps from oak wood. This wood I got from a sawmill, but I first had to mill it down ( you can see the milling process under this text). These lamps gave the room a much better look already, so I also build some furniture out of oak wood.

Step 1: my milling process:

This is the very rough sawn lumber I bought from a sawmill.

After I planed, sanded and cut it, looks like this!

Bedside lamp

I was never really happy with the light of my old bedside lamp.

That’s why I decided to build a new one from oak, which turned out very nice

Small wooden lamp with lampshade:

I made this lamp from a lampshade and some oak wood. I even tried to hide the cable inside the wood.

The biggest challenge was to create the exact right angles to join three pieces together with the tools I have.

Lamp made from veneer:

In the past, I tried many times to make things from veneer, but that was the first time it actually worked.

The lamp produces a really nice light, and it looks great whether it is on or off.

Huge floor lamp

The lamp was built from solid oak wood, with a few brass accents. It gives the room a nice feeling and provides great light.

I tried three times to make a wooden lampshade, but in the end, I felt too defeated, so I just bought a high-quality one

Oak lamp on a small shelf:

This lamp is made from two small oak slabs, sandwitched together, and from inbetween, there shines some light.

The small shelf that holds the lamp is made from oak wood aswell, and I wanted to try something new, so I build it with a sliding door and a nice, small brass detail that severs as a handele aswell.

Oak lamp with lampshade:

This lamp is made from somme pieces o oak wood, which were assembeld to a angeld frame.

Making this Frame wasn´t easy, because of all the angels, and because of the glue not holding to good on endgrain, but eventually I managed to do it.

Wall mounted lamp:

This lamp hangs on the wall above my bed, and it is great for reading.

To make it look nicer, I opened up the wall and put a cable through it before I closed it again.

Floor lamp:

I made this floor lamp from solid oak wood and a lampshade.

A bit of a challenge was to cut perfect angles, as I didn’t want straight legs

Floor lamp from really old wood:

This lamp is made from really old wood I found near a river.

I mounted a foot, cleaned the wood up a little bit, and recessed a LED strip in the back.

Lamp from oak wood and a natural string:

This lamp is a nice combination of white oak wood and a natural string.

Around the glued-together frame, I wrapped the string, after I sanded it, rounded over the corners and put some finish on.

Lamp from driftwood:

I built this lamp from a lampshade and a piece of driftwood, I found near a river.

It is a really interesting piece of wood to look at, especially because you can see the ruts from the river.

Small lamp from oak wood:

I built this lamp from a pretty thick piece of oak wood and took some material away in the middle.

A bit of a challenge was, to drill a hole in the wood, as there wasn’t enough room for a drill.

Desk lamp:

This lamp is also made from oak wood and a LED strip.

Unfortunately, you need to tighten the joints very hard, because otherwise, the lamp wouldn’t hold on its own.
